Power Gains: Increasing Engine Displacement to 750cc
Over the last three years, rumour has it that Royal Enfield has been at work for a new 750cc version of its only parallel twin. With the big end built, it's supposed to bring in another 5-7 more hp to give it extra performance without losing any of the legendary velvety smoothness and trucklike torque. And that new engine should show up in a production vehicle in two to three years.
New Features Under Testing
A prototype of the revised Interceptor was spotted recently near Royal Enfield's R&D centre in Chennai, with some new features such as dual front brake discs-first for features. That might be just in a component test, though it is equally likely we are seeing upgraded braking and performance features that are destined for future models.
Showing More Than Just First Touring Sport
Expected to hit the market first is the Himalayan, a mule for which was spied only recently. However, UK dealers indicate it will be a sports tourer with 19-inch front wheels, rather than an adventure bike.
What does a 750-cc Upgrade mean?
The current 650cc Royal Enfield engine is reckoned to be one of the best engines ever built in India with its smoothness, refinement, and torque-heavy performance. All these traits are expected to see further enhancement with the coming 750cc version, which can further raise the appeal of Royal Enfield in both Indian and foreign shores.
Thus, greater action may await Royal Enfield enthusiasts in near futures with such improvements!
